Labour
of Love for New Business premises!
Iain Wright MP visited @the-business-centre, 9-13
Scarborough Street, Hartlepool today to officially
open the new business office suites in the former
Labour Party premises.
The Victorian building and former Hartlepool Gentleman’s
Social Club was built in the late 1800s and for
5 years was used as headquarters for the Hartlepool
Labour Party. The property has been transformed
and lovingly restored by local businessmen Dean
Moore & John Wennington and now provides 11
business units for small businesses and start-ups
at realistic prices.
Dean & John took ownership of the premises in
May 2004 and have been busy refurbishing them ever
since. “This really has been what you call
a Labour of Love.” Dean commented, “we
have our own businesses to run, getting the premises
fully operational has been quite a task, but well
worth the end result.”
‘’ We have tried to keep as many of the
original features as possible and these prestigious
offices are perfectly placed in the heart of the
conservation and business area of Church Street.
The Centre is close to the Train Station and benefits
from all the amenities of the thriving town centre
and highly acclaimed Marina and Historic Quay’’.
Iain Wright MP is delighted with the transformation
and said: “It’s really heartwarming to
see entrepreneurs like Dean and John not only branching
out with a new business, but also putting something
back in to Hartlepool. The economy of the town is
heavily dependant on the creation of new businesses,
and these refurbished premises will be a great asset
to the town.”
The premises not only provide business office suites
but also boardroom, conferencing facilities, meeting
rooms and a refreshments bar.
Barclays have supported Dean and John in the new
venture and Trevor Jenkins, Local Business Manager,
said; “I have been working with them for some
time now on this project and I am looking forward
to seeing their future success. I am sure it is
personally rewarding for them today, as I know how
hard they have worked to complete this project.”
Dean went on to add ‘’ without the support
of our Business Advisers, Barclays, Hartlepool Borough
Council, Adrea Miles and her team at Brougham Enterprise
Centre, I don’t think this project would have
got off the ground’’.
John then said ’’of course we have been
assisted by Friends, Family and a wealth of good
tradesman from the town and Dean and I appreciate
their contribution and thanks must go to them all’’. |
